Venturing is open to anyone ages 14 (or 13 and finished with eighth grade) through 20. You don’t need any Scouting experience, and you don’t need to be a scientist. If you’re curious and like making things, you’ll fit right in.

Come to a meeting

The easiest way to find out if the crew is for you is to visit a program meeting. They’re on the third or fourth Thursday of each month, 6 to 8 PM, at the Newburgh Creates studio, 113 Liberty St, Newburgh, NY. Parents and guardians are welcome to sit in. Get in touch first so we know to expect you and can tell you what that month’s topic is.

Register

Once you’ve decided to join, you’ll register with Scouting America through our crew. We’ll walk you through the paperwork at a meeting.

Registration fees and crew dues are still being finalized. Ask us at a meeting or send us a message for the current numbers.

What to get

New Venturers will eventually want:

Don’t buy anything before your first meeting. Come as you are, see if you like it, and we’ll talk about uniforms after.

Adults

Crews need adult volunteers too: advisors, committee members, and drivers for adventures. If you’re a parent or a STEM professional who’d like to help, we’d love to hear from you. Every adult leader registers with Scouting America and completes Youth Protection Training.
