Every Scouting America unit is sponsored by a chartered organization, a community group that owns the unit, provides its meeting place, and approves its adult leaders. Ours is Newburgh Creates.

About Newburgh Creates

Newburgh Creates is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Newburgh, NY, with a simple mission: to unleash the creative potential of Newburgh’s emerging artists and inventors. Its legal name is Newburgh Creates Foundation, Inc., and it does business as Newburgh Creates.

The studio at 113 Liberty St runs hands-on STEM and art programs for youth ages 7 to 14: after-school robotics and coding labs, summer camps, art classes, homeschool programs, and FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge robotics teams. Scholarships and free enrollment are built into every program, because cost should never be a barrier.

Newburgh Creates believes young people learn best by making things. That’s the same idea behind our crew. Venturing picks up where the studio’s youth programs leave off, giving teens ages 14 to 20 a place to keep building, with more independence and a program they plan themselves.

What the crew gets from the studio

• A meeting place at 113 Liberty St for program nights and adventures.
• Access to the studio’s robots, 3D printers, and tools.
• Adult leaders drawn from Newburgh Creates’ instructors and coaches.
