STEM Venturing Crew 111 now has a home on the web. We’ll post here about upcoming meetings, adventures, and what the crew has been building.
Our first season
The crew started meeting in February 2026. Here are some of the highlights from the spring and summer:
- Geocaching. The officers planned it online, and then we spent a Sunday afternoon hunting caches.
- Marble runs and Rube Goldberg machines. A build night at the Newburgh Creates studio.
- Engineering Expo. We took a trip to the Engineering Expo in White Plains, which runs a Rube Goldberg competition every year.
- XRP robotics. We built and programmed XRP robots at the studio, went to watch the Norwalk Havoc Robot League (a battle bots league), and took the robots to compete in a Digital Rally Hackathon competition.
- Rank ceremony at LEGOLAND. We did a rank ceremony and had an end-of-year party.
What’s next
The officers have a long list of ideas: robot dogs, game design, Raspberry Pi projects, retro game consoles, RC car racing, Minecraft mods, a data center visit, a renewable energy campout, and maybe entering a robot in the Norwalk Havoc Robot League ourselves. Which ones happen, and in what order, is up to the crew.
